Search Requests

Looking for a particular item within the house? Want to know what you'll come across if you search a particular area? This is where you can come to do that!

All you have to do is fill out the form below and the mods will initiate a scene with you based on whatever kind of hunt you are doing. Roleplaying in this form will be more summarized and to the point for the sake of expediency. Also, know that requests will not always be fulfilled, or may only be fulfilled if your character accomplishes certain actions within the scene.

Character: [Who is doing the searching?]
Resource: [What are they looking for?]
Method: [What is their plan of action for finding said resource? Where are they looking? You have to give specifics here, or you will likely not get the response you're hoping here. We are looking for things like 'Searching the seventh wing of the library by looking at every book' or 'Trying to bust into a new room in the Grand Hall.']

You will not be allowed to claim your character is in possession of an item until you've completed the thread in which they find it. Don't be afraid to bug the mods if it seems that we've forgotten your thread. All scenes will be made as brief as possible.

Note this is for items that are not assumed basics. Basics include things like pillows from the Lounge or curtains from the Master Bedroom. Something that is obviously already in a location doesn't need to be asked for.

Character: Nausicaa
Resource: Any books that may give her clues as to what her strange memory means, or as to where she may be able to find the field in that memory. She thinks the field might be somewhere inside the house, so she's also got an eye out for any house plans or layout information, especially relating to the inner garden.
Method: Spending ages looking at every book in the library's fourth wing
fifty: (☆ home of the brave)

[personal profile] fifty 2013-08-30 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: America
Resource: ...Rooms, I suppose. He is trying to get into the locked doors in the Grand Hall.
Method: Turning into wind and trying to get through any available openings beneath the doors/above the doors/to the sides of the doors/in the doors if there are cracks in any of the doors/keyholes. Just anything that looks like air should be able to pass through really. I doubt he can check every door but he'll go at it for a good day or so with a few breaks for food, starting at the doors nearest to the open rooms and working out from there.

Character: Raoul de Chagny
Resource: Any books on music. Sheet music, books detailing the history of music, books about music, etc. etc.
Method: Searching every book in the library's third wing until he gets hungry/kicked out/both.
ironspirit: (strong body)

[personal profile] ironspirit 2013-08-31 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Elsword
Resource: Some kind of decently sized and fireproof fabric to make into a strap/sling for his sword body. He's seriously starting to get sick of dragging himself around everywhere. Imagine trying to carry a broadsword that's almost as tall as you are with smooth metal hands that have barely any grip to them, it is not fun.
Method: He has no fucking idea where to look, so he's just gonna try cutting off strips of random cloths/rugs/curtains/napkins??? and setting them on fire to see if they burn or not. He's trying not to cause any horrifically reckless fires, at least? But if Mason gets mad he will probably stop, at least for a little while.

He'll concentrate his efforts on the master bedroom (lots of stuff to check!! except it's the least logical place for fireproof stuff, really...) and the hearth room (maybe stuff hung close to the hearth since it's more likely to catch on fire?), with a bit of checking around the dining hall (for handling hot plates?? but who is he kidding, he's mainly here for a lunch break).

also he's looking for his sister CAN HE FIND HIS SISTER????

[personal profile] saylazy 2013-09-03 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Yui
Resource: Guitar or other instrument
Method: Opening doors in a methodical method, shouting guitar into each room, and promptly closing the door if there aren't any obvious hiding spots or shelves to look in. Of course if there's a closet or crawlspace she has to go inside and shut their too as she digs through all their master's stuff. She just knows there's a guitar around here somewhere!

[personal profile] grotesqueobserver 2013-09-04 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Jeff and Feferi
Resource: The Roof!
Method: They're starting in the great hall so there are plenty of stairs to try! Jeff's idea is to start climbing stairs until he gets to the top of a staircase, then look for either a roof access or more stairs. Repeat as necessary.

chromaticscale: (casually tents fingers)

[personal profile] chromaticscale 2013-09-05 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Feferi Peixes
Resource: a dinglehopper hairbrush or comb of any sort
Method: Searching all the drawers she's ever seen as well as "logical" places for a hairbrush to be (on a dresser, or inside a personal trunk for example, but not necessarily in a bag of flour). Barring that, she will make sad fish noises and try to ask Mason if he has seen any around because her hair is getting very tangled.

[personal profile] hand_of_courage 2013-09-05 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Link
Resource: Keys to doors in the house
Method: His ability to turn time back or forward on individual objects means he can (potentially) turn back time on the various locks until such a time that they have still have a key in them. Then take the key. He'd be looking to keep the keys in a belt pouch. Which he'll be fashioning on the night of Day 4.

EDIT: Adding on this:

Resource: Scissors and needle/sewing supplies
Method: In this thread, Link has gone from the Master Bedroom to the Kitchen and is currently looking in the Kitchen for things he can use as or turn into scissors and a needle so he can fashion those pouches and belt he wants to make for himself. And potentially other cloth or leather made things in the long term.

Characters: Zoe Washburne, Jordan Hayes, Sollux Captor, Nausicaa, Knock Out, William Flemming, Alan of Trebond, Aisha Clan-Clan, and Asch the Bloody, Reiko Natsume.
Resource: A diary, notebook, day planner, or other written record by the Keeper of their activities.
Method: Because this is such a large group, they have broken up into smaller groups to go searching.

Zoe, Sollux, and Reiko will be searching under the bed by zigzagging across the whole of the floor looking under anything they come across and for suspicious cracks that might indicate a loose floorboard. They will also be looking up into the bedframe for anything hidden. Sollux's light will be illuminating their search, but Reiko can also see in the dark and may break off from Zoe and Sollux if she notices something.

Jordan, Alan, William, and Asch will be searching in the closet by rifling through the clothes, and climbing them to reach any high shelves in the closet. Jordan can see in the dark and Alan gives off ambient light to see sort of. Alan will also be searching for any serviceable weapons in the pockets of the clothing.

Aisha, Nausicaa, and Knock Out will be searching on/in the nightstand and any dressers. Nausicaa can fly, Aisha is a good climber, and Knock Out... can get up there. They'll be rifling through anything that looks rifle-able and checking for any hidden compartments in the drawers if possible. Nausicaa will try to get the drawers open while hovering in midflight, at least partially, and Knock Out and Aisha will push them out farther once there's enough lip on the drawer to do that.

Character: Alan of Trebond
Resource: A kitchen - where there's a dining hall, there's usually a place to prepare food. Usually. The ultimate goal is to find some items that could be used as armor, or worked into a suitable equivalent.
Method: Following doors in the area of the dining hall.

What Jeff did on the mun's summer vacation?

[personal profile] grotesqueobserver 2013-09-17 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Jeff Levitt
Resource: A broom
Method: Opening doors that look like they might lead to some kind of closet.

Also, he's looking at a possible controlled burn as a way to get rid of all the dead vines (...LOL yeah)? Naturally he's not going to just put a torch to the lot and pray. He's going to try and clear out a nice big non-combustable area (an all-marble staircase, say) and make a small bonfire in the middle. He's going to start with a small pile to make sure smoke/sparks/whatever won't be a problem.

NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS PLAN.

Resource: Trying to figure out if the library has any sort of organization to it.
Method: He'll start with reading titles and authors on the spines to see if it's alphabetical, then start pulling groups of books down to see if they're grouped by subject. He'll be starting at the shelves closest to the door, if that makes a difference.

Character: Voldemort aka Kissy Face
Resource: Books in the library that he can potentially read, which includes the languages: English, French, some Albanian, also probably some German.
Method: Taking his time to search through the entire library like a proper researcher. He may or may not do some double-checking as well. He'll make sure to take breaks to save his sanity, but otherwise he'll be at it.

Character: Daylen Amell
Resource: Information on Dreaming, Shared Dreams, something to explain what happened when he was made to sleep by the vines (and why he might dream of some kind of other place?).
Method: He'll probably spend a few hours wandering the library at first, gauging each wing for content before settling in front of the one that seems most appropriate and factual and going through the books pulling out and reading anything even loosely related. He's got time and he likes reading.

As a note, he'd probably totally make for the 8th wing if he saw it appear while he was there. He has the curiosity of a cat.

Character: Juushirou Ukitake & Kotetsu Kaburagi
Resource: Items of significance that may have been left behind by party-goers, guests, and even the Keeper at the lounge. Additionally, anything which might be of use in throwing a soiree of their own.
Method: While tidying up the lounge, Ukitake will meticulously rearrange the upholstery, looking for anything which may have been forgotten beneath the fixtures or their cushions. Meanwhile, Kotetsu will search the tables for compartments, hidden or otherwise, by checking for hollows in the furniture and other ornamentation.

Character: Raven
Resource: something on weird changeling physiology or basically something that vaguely resembles "How to Take Care of Your Hot Mess" because possessions are ridiculous what else is new
Method: skimming the library in what free time he gets in between Incidents and chasing Trouble Sword Arms all over/when Sword Arms is actually in the library, that sure does make things easier. if the brat get nosy he'd just hastily but casually reshelve whatever he's looking at or something. he'd probably leaf through some of the books in the secret room as well, just to be thorough even though he doubts anything kept in such a secret location would help much.

Character: Elsword
Resource: Magic books. Magic books that he can both read and maybe even understand, with the intention of using this to work his way up to "secret dead body room books" difficulty.

Also, his sister. Always watching out for sis.

Method: Searching the library, as that is where books are normally kept, and concentrating his efforts on whatever wing seems to be the most... magical, I guess. The most educational? If it's got anything weird/magic-looking/legible on the spine or cover he'll take a peek. Or if there's like, I don't know, a badass picture of a dragon on it. Badass dragon books will be taken into consideration regardless of apparent content.

He's also gonna try and make sense of that secret room book he grabbed, of course. Maybe copy down some of the least fatal-sounding sigils and see if anything happens.

Character: Ankh
Resource: Medals/coin-like objects. He's basically looking for anything that resembles this or these, but since chances are he's not going to find an exact match, he'll take anything that's similar too: coins, medallions, metallic buttons even, that sort of thing. His goal is to gather a collection/as many as he can, not just one.
Method: Rooting through the house, opening drawers, searching through closets, that sort of thing. He isn't being especially thorough, but he might look inside pots or under furniture. Basically checking all over the place, but in a pretty disorganized manner.

nosentimentalist: (i guess every superhero)

[personal profile] nosentimentalist 2013-09-23 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Keats
Resource: Any magazine/newspaper type publications. Brochures, even. In general, any documents that aren't books.
Method: He lives in the library, so he'll definitely be checking the shelves there to see if there's anything remotely like that, probably opening any book that looks thick enough and seeing if there might be some documents stuck in the pages. He'll also check desks around the place. Occasionally he'll wander through the house and rifle through drawers in places such as the bedroom, but not that much, since he doesn't entirely think he'll find anything there.

[personal profile] heirred 2013-09-24 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Mituna
Resource: Grappling Hook
Method: More determined then Yui. He doesn't have anything else to do so he is just going to be searching the whole house. Under the bed, opening random doors if he can in the grand hall, lifting up every thing in the house in existence to see if there's a secret button underneath. If he finds and weapons that aren't people (currently) that would be cool too.

Character: Zoe, Raven, and Ukitake
Resource: The ghost Jordan and co. released in the Gardens.
Method: Searching around where Zoe last encountered it by the pond, then having Raven search from the air and direct Zoe and Ukitake when he sees suspicious movements.

EDITED to add an additional search on the evening of Day 14.
Character: Zoe
Resource: Keys to the doors in the Grand Hall.
Method: Spending the evening searching through the pockets of the clothes in the Keeper's bedroom.

Character: Daylen Amell
Resource: Clues about what his dreams/visions/memories might mean. A note, a book, letter, list, or anything that might provide a semblance of insight.
Method:
Brimstone suggested to him that they themselves may have been stolen, told him about the note, so he's going to go picking around drawers and things in the master bedroom before stealing his nerves and making a search of the Hearth Room -- looking for something secret The Keeper might have left behind that might help him understand.

Character: Zelda
Resource: Maps! Atlases! Globes! Anything that might hint towards what's outside of the walls of the house (or where the house even is)
Method: She will pick three wings of the library at random, given there doesn't seem to be much organization anyway (mods can randomize this should it matter), and then spend a few days combing through each wing, searching for things she is able to read that might be relevant to her search.

After "reviving" (or getting her soul put back into her body, however you want to put it), this oracle will be looking for ways to defend herself. For ~some reason~ she has a natural inclination towards magic, sooo...

Resource: Spellbooks, in particular ones that have to do with defense, casting wards, creating barriers, etc
Method: Once again picking three wings of the library and searching through each for a few days, using her enhanced sight to make quick work of things.

Characters: Reiko, Clover, Alan(na), Jeff, Sollux, Nausicaa, Keats, Aradia, Link, Jordan, Zoe, Mituna, Elsword, Saber, Feferi, Raven, Ankh, and Zhosma.
Resource: Access to the outside, a study where the Keeper would keep more of his work, and Mason's spirit form, specifically. More broadly, anything behind Door Number 1 through 1,000,000,000.
Method: Checking the doors in the Great Hall. Because there are many characters, Zoe has suggested that people pair up and search groups of doors to divide and conquer whilst using different strategies. The strategies are listed below along with the characters engaging in them. Nausicaa, specifically, will also be checking the ledge and cubbyhole Feferi and Jeff identified during their attempt to get to the roof.

Strategy 1: Find the 'Right' Door (Characters using skills or talents to identify the best doors to go after for the Brute Force It and Whisper Sweet Nothings strategies.)
- Reiko (book sense)
- Clover (sense of smell)
- Alan(na) (weapons sense)
- Jeff (knowledge of the doors after living in the Great Hall and excellent eyesight to find secret doors)
- Sollux (second sight sense-y thing)

Strategy 2: Are Any of Them Conveniently Unlocked? (Characters just checking if any doors are actually already open; these will likely be some of the quicker characters and they will check more doors than most.)
- Nausicaa (also checking the ledge and cubby hole Feferi and Jeff found during their Roofquest)
- Keats
- Aradia
- Link (also checking in on the empty white room he found the key for)
- Raven
- Ankh

Strategy 3: Brute Force It (Characters trying to force unyielding doors with raw strength or other talents.)
- Jordan (hydra form plus venom to poison Mason)
- Zoe (find doors with handles and try to break the lock by slamming the butt of her rifle down on the handles; alternatively, just shoot the gorram things)
- Mituna (rotting wood)
- Elsword (flaming metal fists (and swords) of fury!)
- Saber (another sword!)

Strategy 4: Whisper Sweet Nothings (Characters trying to sweet talk the doors and house into letting them in.)
- Feferi (hypnotic voice talents)
- Zhosma (furriendly chatter!)
